Module 12 - Common Objections

  1. Objection: The cost is too much. Response: That makes sense that you would feel that way. The initial cost seems like a lot, but wait until you see what financial aid and scholarships you qualify for before ruling us out. Additionally, you will see that in these programs, students graduate and get jobs with a starting salary that makes paying loans back manageable. These costs allow us to have smaller class sizes and provide so many opportunities for you to get involved and have personal connections with faculty.

  2. Objection: I might want to be Synod Certified for teaching. Response: There are more and more opportunities opening up that allow teaching in a WELS school upon graduation more possible. With the teacher shortage, many schools are looking for qualified teachers to fill the gap.

Module 7

Reflection:

  1. One thing I need to be more conscience of is my rate of speech.

  2. I realized that my DISC style makes me less prone to answer phone calls. There are a lot of unknowns, and I want to know more before I will answer because I worry about not having the right answer. I usually prefer emails/written communication or being in person.

Action:

  1. Find out if we already have a phone script.

  2. Ask about when are times we would prioritize or prefer phone calls.

Module 6

Reflection:

  1. Being on time is an area of growth for me.

  2. WLC does a good job of finding out what things students want to explore or learn about to help set a good agenda for the visit.

Action:

  1. Create a list of at least 3 transitional phrases that can help me keep the meeting on time.

  2. Could try messaging students before the visit to see if they have any specific questions or things they are hope to see.
